WHO WE ARE
Faculty Commons is part of the global faculty network of Campus Crusade for Christ. On campuses all over the world, we gather as a “transformed community”: men and women who love the academy, who find the person and works of Jesus of Nazareth to be satisfying and true, and who look to Him as the beautiful hope for the world.
We dream of the day when there are movements of Christian professors on every campus, circles of professors and faculty willing to wrestle with the ever-challenging question, “As a Christian, what should I do in the academy?”
History:
For more than 25 years we have pioneered faculty ministry under the name Christian Leadership Ministries. We are transitioning to our new name, Faculty Commons. We are excited about this change, as we believe this new identity will better position us to minister to both professors and students in the academy.
For centuries in academia, the Faculty Commons has been a place of gather for the exchange of ideas and the sharing of lives. In this spirit, our name Faculty Commons reflects our common love for the academy and learning, for our students and colleagues, and for the One who gives us life and binds us together.
Since Campus Crusade began its faculty ministry in 1980, Faculty Commons has:
• a network of over 10,000 Christian professors at more than 1,100 universities
• a staff of 95 serving more than 100 universities in thirty states
• a sponsor of 150 faculty outreach trips to 35 nations
• a co-founder of faculty ministries in England, Poland, Taiwan and Jamaica
• an organizer of and resource to Christian faculty movements on over 50 U.S. campuses
• a host of major national conferences attended by hundreds of Christian professors
